Cowon J3 32gb refuses to charge or connect to computer

I just recently bought a Cowon J3 mp3 player and it refused to charge or connect to the computer right out of the box. I am using an Acer Aspire 7750G-6804 laptop and when I checked the trouble shooting in the manual they say it could refuse to connect to the computer or charge because of inconsistent charge from the computer, is the player faulty?

What can I do, please help! I spent 260 dollars on this thing!

Can you try it on a different computer, or at least different USB ports? Did you try it with laptop connected to it's own charger? Does the player come with an adapter to allow it to charge from the mains and if so, did you try that?

No, it does not come with a charger that allows it to charge from the mains and no I haven't yet tried it on a different computer, I was about to do that (on my land lords computer when his wife got back), and yes I have tried it on different USB ports but I think I've discovered whats wrong with it. It has a faulty port (on the player) as when I hold in the cable at a certain angle it works and is detected by the computer, as soon as I let go it is disconnected.

I'm RMAing this thing, I'm not about to hold the cable in for the 3 and a half hours it needs to charge each time I need to charge it. First time I've tried anything other than an ipod and I have to say I am very disappointed, shoddy build quality on the lot of these other mp3 players.

I owe Cowon an apology, it was me who was not using it right, I got pissed off and just pushed with all my might and it went "click" and the connector went about half again deeper inside and the PC picked it up immeadiately!!!!

Wow, I'm such a dumbass.

Thank you for raising the question! I had the same problem. I've bought cowon c2 this morning and I was just about to go to the store back to say that it does not charge.
