??? Need Help! worth waiting for i5 IB?

First of All, This is my VERY FIRST post on this forum!
hope to learn useful pc knowledge from everyone here!

I am upgrading my 2-3 year ago desktop pc! Major purpose: lots of Video streaming and Movie, regular office type tasks and quite bit of Gaming (Ex BF3,SCII, D3 soon)!

I can't decide on the CPU: i5-2500k (on promotion now dropped $35CA)
or
wait for i5- 3570K
Will I notice any difference in terms of performance on my need between IB and SB?

I have researched quite bit on IVY bridge,
1. I have a 128G crucial M4 SSD for OS win7 and all the application and games i need, data is a on WD green 2TB! So SSD cache is no use to me!
2. I got EVGA 560ti 448 Classy, highly OCed, and I have on Board video already as back up from my z68 board, with i5 2500k it will be HD 3000.
3. I use Asus Maximus IV gene- Z68 board, with PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0. If i really want to use PCIe 3.0, I will have to get next Gen Nivida card, which isn't out, and I feel my card does more than what I expected.

Since i5 2500k is on discount now, should i go ahead and buy it and set it up or wait 2 more month for i5 3570k, which has no real data proof on stable OC. I kinda feel ivy is Intel's test chip for Haswell 2013, which goes onto an entire different platform 1150!

Anyway, I wanna hear from all of you! Thanks!

rest of my spec:
Cooler Master HAF 922
Antec TP new 750
8G Gskill Sniper Series
EVGA 560ti 448 classy
Asus Maximus IV gene-z
Crucial M4 128G
WD green 2TB

If you've got that whole PC ready to go, it'd be a massive waste to leave it lying around until you can get a CPU in two months. Or are you running it all with a different CPU atm?

IB will be faster and overclock better than SB. But not epicly better - just 5-25%. Go ahead and buy the 2500K imo. If you wait for the big performance increase just round the corner you'll be waiting forever. It's not like the 2500K will suddenly become obselete.

Unless you're looking to upgrade the rest of your PC at the same time then no, I don't think there's much point in waiting for the Ivybridge.
You have a GTX 560 for gaming and the rest of your PC activities are going to be spent streaming and other low-powered PC activities. By the looks of it, you won't need that much in the way of CPU power, other than to allow the graphics card to run at a decent pace. The 2500k, particularly if over locked, will quite happily do your graphics card justice when used with the 560.
By the time it'll be worth upgrading from the 2500k the Ivybridge will either be superseded or, at the very least, cheaper.

I am currently just using my laptop, waiting for this pc to be built, I always had the set of mind that waiting bit longer on these things will be beneficial at the end, the part IB will be priced same as SB kills me lol. Oh well, you are right, IB is not a BIG Jump from SB, plus I don't need that much cpu power anyway. I will go with 2500k!

Well once you have a pile of components waiting to be used, the worst thing you can use is not use them. Because they'll become cheaper in time, and if you had bought the whole rig later, you could have saved a load of money.

As for always waiting for the big tech release coming up. Sure, you can do that. But there'll always be something. Maybe if you had bought your whole rig when IB came out, you'd just be sitting around waiting for the new DDR4 supporting boards to be released a month after that, or some new Nvidia graphics card. Tech gets replaced by better tech, but if what you have is good enough, you shouldn't care. It isn't a competition.

I am actually upgrading my whole pc basically! Most of m spec are bought new recently. My reason to upgrading was to support my graphics actually, and I heard SB is a Huge success of Intel, and I will definitely OC 2500k to around 4.5GHz. 2500k it is! and later one if I need new generation graphic cards, i can just sell the old 2500k and 560ti 448, and buy ivy and PCIe 3.0 graphic card, since my MB will be able to support it.

or Start a fresh build on Haswell after 2 years from now, i hope the software and game application will keep up with this insane progress of Intel market xD.

Anyway, Thanks for your input!

You are completely right! Cant really compete on these, as long as it fits my need comfortably, i am happy! I will buy some LED fans, and a cpu cooler for the new cpu for OC, just to make my new rig special to me xD.

Can't wait! ps: any recommandation on an efficient cpu cooler? i know stock air cool can't get me to 4.5 or higher lol CM 212 Evo? or a low end all in one liquid cool?

How much do you care about noise, any space constraints, do you often move your PC?

My HAF 922 is rich in space, I don't mind noise, but jet engine type sound is not acceptable in my room loool. I move my pc once every 4 month minimum!

Re: Need Help! worth waiting for i5 IB?

For the CPU cooler, have a look at the NZXT Havik range or anything by Noctua (for air). Cant really beat the Corsair H range for self contained easy to install liquid coolers but they tend to be a bit louder than the above though.

As for the actual build. Run everything through your GTX and keep away from the onboard, Virtu isnt a great tech and your GTX has lots of nice features anyway.
