Who's surprised?
Xeons are just P4s with a lot of cache -- writing a review to say that they're good for gaming is sort of like saying that Bartons are good for gaming, too.

not feasble to me becouse the amd is so much cheaper ...
![]() his charts are off backwords two... quick price from pricwatch his $500(1x Athlon XP 3200+) real $438 ~ $150(Asus A7N8X Deluxe) real $132 ~ $250(Dual 512MB PC-3200) real $ 198 ~ $90 (Antec 430W ATX+12V PSU) real $70 $990 $838 differance- $152 why would an amduser use a intel power aproved only supply? wih the specail leads when ne could get a great 400w for about $20-$30 try -200 with needed amd aproved duel fan powersupply... his numbers are off.. and he doest mention amd multi cpus ... the review is "lacking"

AMD was kicking intels ass before. Just a few things they need to fix up is that their procs dont handle heat as well (and its a fact that AMD procs do run 20% cooler than intel i read in a thread here on DH) and have a faster Bus speed. when i had my old slot A the Bus speed on the AMD was faster than intel's and but heat eventually killed my proc. the temp was horrible on it at times. because of the Slot A it generated more heat and my cpu was slowly frying even with a Tt fan on it! Thats why intel and AMD both moved away from the Slot processors and back to the Sockets because the heat is disappated better. But since AMD costs cheaper to manufacture thats why it cant handle heat as well. but I am surprised how fast the AMD processors really are considering a 400 mhz fsb compared to a 800mhz fsb on intels.

Actually the newer AMD's like the Bartons seem to run cooler then some P4's. There is a group of 8 of us that LAN game every other weekend at my house. 2 guys have P4's and the reast of us have AMD Chips. The 3 of us that have Bartons are running cooler then the guys with the 2.5 and the 3.2 P4's.....The systems are similar other then the CPU's.... and the funny part is I OC my Barton and I still have the P4 2.5 beat my almost 30 F under full load......
