3D Mark99 MAX?

OK guys

here is one for ya

right i have been able to run 3Dmark99MAX ok in win 98 and Mil, but i am having problems with running it in winXP Pro after installing it then running it, there is a message that comes up say needs DX6 to run it has any one had a work round to get past this problem running DX9 at the mo.

I have done a post in Futuremark forum but they do not sopport this one any more but there is some people that r going to try and get it working i hope..

Just want to see what benchmark i get with my Radeon 9700 pro in it

It most likely would take a Registry hack to make it think you have DX 6 installed. Similar to earlier versions of 3DMark2000 that wouldn't run on DX 8 machines.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX and it's under "Version", but I don't remember a dx6 code off-hand. (Actually I don't ever think I knew one or needed to before... )

I have NO IDEA if this works, but it's something I found doing a search.

It's a DirectX Version Control. The app claims to let you establish WHICH DirectX version you wish for a particular program to use.

Might be worth checking out.
