Not on AMD boards. On AMD, expect a couple percent increase in memory bandwidth. Some people want all that they can get, so they get 2 dimms. But if you only get 1, you won't really notice the difference in real world use.

But on Intel boards...(i865, i875, granite bay [e-something])....whooo boy! It's the greatest thing since sliced bread, not twice the performance by a long shot, but more bandwidth and speed than the best sticks tested alone.

As a general rule it isn't. Unless the board support dual channel.

It's increases bandwidth by like 5%.... not much. Cuz you have dual RAM controllers so they are more efficient with two sticks. But, you are hindered for overclocking with two sticks. 1 stick goes faster mhz than two sticks.

I've got a Granite Bay (E7205) board and Corsair XMS TwinX dual channel ram. I honestley dont think there is any difference. When I put the ram in single channel, games actually seem to run smoother. I don't think its worth shelling out extra money for it.

Vampyromaniac, you are right. But it does doble on amd too, but only with that 800fsb support on intel baed systems you will see the real difference. wow, I wondering how expensive would be a top intel system in these days... so much I can't afford =(
