how can i download the movie form my VCR to my PC????

what programs do i need and how do i connect both things?

System Specs

You'll need a capture card - and if the PC is a bit lightweigt for MPEG encoding, better if the card can do it in hardware (more expensive of course).

You might already have capture capability if your video card is an "All in Wonder" or "ViVo" model

All in Wonder is ATI's version, with TV tuner / video in, TV/Video out
ViVo is a more generic designation , for Video in/Video out
Many cards have TV OUT - as that a bonus with many graphics chipsets anyway, but video in means some extra chips.

hmmm, that`s not cool at all. i don`t wannt to buy a new card just to get one movie encoded.

There are places where you can have this done. I know a lot of videographers that do wedding vidoes etc. will do this for you. It might end up costing you more than a capture card though. You can probably pick up a seperate capture card for less than $100. I personally wouldn't go the all-in-wonder route.
