Similar performance GPU to 9500np>9700

I'd like to know which NVIDIA/ATI card is similar/better to the ATI 9500nonpro modded to ATI 9700.
No matter if it's NVIDIA or ATI, my friend is looking for a card like the 9500nonpro > 9700.

But we cant find any, since newegg sold out, and no other stores have them.

He's basically looking for a card around that budget ($140-$170). GOOD overclocker, good performance, etc.

I was thinking a Ti4200, or maybe a Ti4400? But which one, I heard the Gainward's are good, what about the Win____?

Somebody told me the Win____ (excuse the underline, dunno the rest of the companies name... lol) is a great overclocker.

Care to help out? Maybe post your own Ti4200 specs, OC ability, etc.

Thanks a lot!!!

I have a Gainward GF4 Ti4200 golden sample and it hits 331/65 (Ugh) It has some sort of wierd ram problem. The core goes nice and high though, from its stock 250 to 330.

I think its one of the best cards to get for OCing. The r9500pro is a pretty nice card too, I don't own one, but it has the same core as the r9700 and half of the ram bandwidth.

Yeah I have a ATI 9500 Pro, Built By.

But it's too much for him, like $185USD.

So your thinking TI4200? What's your 3dmark01/03 score with that card?

I never benched on the system. I built it for my dad to play ET on. Thats all he does with it and he can play it with every setting maxed fine.

My friend just sent me this from an article he read.

Re: Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9500 implementationI have the radeon 9500 BLACK pcb and the software MOD works fine. The catch? GET A SAPPHIRE CARD! I am running the card @ 325/310(620)mhz no problem. The card comes unlocked in the bios and all you need to do is go to http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/index.php. Disregard the Warps bios thing. You won't need it with a sapphire. Then get the newest version of powerstrip and overclock away.

It works with all cards, but on the new ones the ram still won't be unlocked.

So why not just unlock it via BIOS flash??

And what do ya think of this Ti4200 (ABIT)
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=324014

He wants this card really bad, but I convinced him to wait a little bit, cause I'm looking at MSI Ti4200?

What do you think??

I had an MSI Ti4200-128mb. It was before I really overclocked, but I think I used the tool to push it up about 40mhz core and 20mhz mem. I had two MSI GF4 series cards, they were very nice.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc...il.php?UID=350

The real advantage over the MSI to that ABIT is AGP 8x support.

And possibly, the Black PCB with L shaped memory? I don't know why that would be any different...

My friend bought a POS FX5600 at googlegear, so he wants to do an exchange type of thing, so the card has to be at googlegear.com.

But let me check that ATI 9500 nonpro red pcb link.
Looks legit by the review.

Thanks for the link, but I still gotta ask ABIT OR MSI TI4200 !?!

MSI! For the fact, I had the card overclocked enough to singe the stock heatsink the air was so hot. But it still ran strong OC'ed, and is till now. About a year.

9500NP @ axiontech review =/

behemoth on 08-14-2003 Rated this item 5 of 5
For anyone looking for the "L" shaped mem card, red PCB, I suggest looking elsewhere. it appears despite the picture these are the black PCB cards with the 128 bits. At least that's what I received. Best of luck.-B

ABIT! It has the same cooler that the FX uses=extreme cooling=great overclocking. It is also clocked at ti4400 speeds by default.

The MSI cooler is an awesome cooler, it's like a Thermaltake Giant II -Heatpipe. Like I said earlier, my card allowed me to OC it so much that the plastic vent on the heatsink get singed. While still remaining strong.

The cooler is actualy a giant flat copper sink with a larger heatsink just off to the side of the fan on the core, the rest of it is a copper sink that is also on all of the memory. So active for Mem+GPU.
