I just got my Sapphire 9500 nonpro red PCB, l-shaped MEM 3.0NS RAM in the mail a couple of hours ago.
So I decided to test it out in my current system.

I uninstalled Omega drivers, disconnected NIC, went into safe mode, cleaned out everything VIA drivercleaner 1.9, shut down the comp, I took out my Built By ATI 9500 pro, put in the new Sapphire 9500nonpro, and went into Windows to install Omega Drivers 2.4.74a, I chose "HACKED" drivers, so they installed fine and everything, then immediately following the restart (it runs those tests) it runs the first test, then goes into a light black screen with a _ thing blinking, like its gonna type something, and it just sits there for like 10 min, so I finally hit the reset button to restart, right after the boot up window, it goes light black and stays there for like 50 sec, then my comp restarts automatically!!!!!

Again, I went into safe mode, uninstalled drivers, restarted, used dc1.9, restarted into windows, installed Omega Drivers 2.4.74a (NORMAL, NOT HACKED!!!), restarted, and I got into windows fine!! I ran 3dmark01 and got a sweet score of 11885, (I got 12477 with my 9500pro, so I'm basically aroundthe same score with this card, sweet!!!).

Just tried 2.4.60 drivers, same exact problem.
I also noticed some wierd thing on the back of the card, know what it is ?




I looked in between the card and that red thing, and something on the card is soldered to something on that red thing, I dont know much about these pin things, but could this be the reason I cant mod it to >9700 ?

Did you run the DH driver cleaner? Make sure and get rid of everything from the 9500PRO. That card should work just fine...

I did broh, I tried twice, and once with the 2.4.60 drivers, no luck, but the 'NORMAL' drivers work.

Maybe it could work when I put my new system together (NF7-S 2.0, XP1700+, SLK-800(A), CORSAIR XMS 512MB PC3200 LL, etc).

Dunno.... *sigh*

And the new system will be on a new 60GB Western Digital 7200RPM 8MB Buffer, fresh HD in package, and I'll have another one of these for file downloads and shiznit.

I don't think it's the card...
That sounds like a Windows problem.

I had that exact same card. I never had any problems with it, but my friend has some weird issues when he switched from his 9600PRO to modded 9500np. Needed to reinstall.

That red thing is a heat spreader for the voltage regulator. The r9700/pro and modable r9500np have it. Its for better cooling of the voltage chip.

I sent the link to my friend quickly to snatch it but by the time he hit BUY IT NOW, some fool got it before him.



I myself payed $156USD w/ shipping, but it wont cost me anything, and I dont care to explain why, I'm basically getting payed to buy the card

Anything you guy off ebay won't be modable. They will test the card to see if its modable and if it fails they will sell it on ebay, if it works they will keep it. My friend did it for himself and me. Thats how I got my moddable r9500np with 3.0NS ram. We acctually earned money from it because people were paying more for the cards on ebay than it cost us to get them.

I guess you don't read close enough, cuz often enough people state when they are moddable. About 5 months ago there was someone who posted a crap load of moddable ones up there and stated that they modded.
