Dumb qustion about Bios
Ok as you can see in my sig I have a compaq PC. Its plenty fast for me and I dont have any problems with it.
But I went into my bios a while ago just to have a look see, And I noticed that my primary VGA setting is PCI, I can switch it too AGP/onboard Thats the only two settings it has. PCI or AGP/onboard. Now I left it where its at set at PCI Thats only because I dont know if I should change it or not, Would it help anything out but setting it to AGP/onboard? would it run better? Also there is no where for me to chane the AGP memory settings So I figure its already set at 64mb I quess thats about standard isnt it?

If you have both an AGP and a PCI video card it is necessary to select one or the other, if you only have an AGP then it doesn't matter what it's at.

Yeah, that's all that matters- Plus, if you wanted, you could always just replace the motherboard and you could make any adjustments you want.
I guess for me personally, if i can't adjust something, it's a "problem"- but that's just me. Like my current MB- I can't adjust pci/agp/fsb ratio dividers- - When I bought it a year and a half ago- I really didn't know too much about overclocking- now I know, and it's a "problem"- But if you don't OC anyway- it doesn't matter.

It's just a kind of "Boot sequence". Like: First Floppy, 2nd HDD, 3rd CdRom...
Just looks for Video Signal at the Bus indicated at First option. If there isn't, goes to the next. |

odd one that.i have one of those mobo's that came as a complete package,as stated by bwx232. limited options even mine states.
pci vga onboard internal agp (onboard sis 650 8mb) agp external. automatic. it will detect whichever has the monitor conected to. changing could be a little riscky due to have set to other option and it disabled my vga but still booted up all be it a blank screen were a hell of a job getting the monitor up & running when you can't see what your doing!! |
