I have the perfect laptop for you, one I ordered just a few days ago.
The Dell Inspiron 5150. The one I got (with a bunch of random rebates, they have a LOT of them every few days and end a couple weeks later) was about $1900, and had: 3.06ghz P4-m (only one available for this laptop, no other speeds... but still good) 512mb RAM 32MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 40gb HDD 24xCD-RW/DVD-ROM 15" UXGA (1600x120) LCD 4 hour life per battery, got two of em MINI-PCI 802.11B/G NIC EDIT: And it has the onboard NIC you want, too. One note, though, is that it only has one PCMCIA slot, which the wireless would take up ![]() The rebates I had were for free RAM upgrade (up to 512 2 DIMM was same price as stock), $150 off the online price (not mail-in), and one other that I'm not remembering perfectly right now. The ones they have right now are: FREE Shipping! $150 OFF - Online Only! With mail-in rebate. FREE CDRW/DVD Combo Drive Upgrade - Online Only! FREE Service Upgrade - from 3Yrs to 4Yrs! After mail-in rebate. So you can save about $50 on the shipping, $150 with a mail-in rebate, and get the combo drive for the same price as the normal CD drive ![]() If you have any specific questions about it, I should be getting mine around 2nd-4th of September ![]() EDIT: I use openoffice, so I saved a few hundred by getting the cheapest Micro$oft office package I could on the laptop, which I'll be deleting anyway. Link for the Inspiron lineup, with the 5150 second from the left, is here. I decided against getting the 8200 since there are a lot of complaints about severe heating problems on the wrist rests, which is just starting to be corrected, and a very bad "mushy and loose" keyboard, which to my knowledge has not been corrected yet.

I'll have to send you the html file for it but i think your eyes will bug out of your head when you see the price especially considering it comes with a built in 4.1 sound solution

UK Laptop section for Dell
It looks like a little bit of it is changed, different rebates to some extent... check it out for yourself ![]() EDIT: This is the one I'm talking about . It uses frames, so I'm hoping that the page loads right.
