Cool! Tuning new AMD rig?

Hi
I'm running a 2400 on a Asus A7N8X Deluxe version 2 mobo with 512 of Mushkin level 2 black DDR 3200.
Win XP service pack 1 reports that I'm running and 1800 CPU, is that because it actually runs at that speed?
How do I find out if I have a Barton CPU?

What would you recomend I do to keep the system running stable while making maximum use of the rig?
Do I need to update the bios or change settings?

I was thinking of changing the CPU heatsink for a quieter model as I find the standard one noisy, what would you recomend?

Thanks for any help
Sebastian

Donator
The 2500+, 2800+ and 3000+ are all bartons, yours is not.

The SLK-900A is the best HS out right now, you can put a high airflow, low RPM 92mm fan on it.

If windows is showing an 1800+ cpu, something is very wrong... go into your bios and set your processor parameters such as FSB and multiplier to auto, and see if that corrects your speed.

It would be nice to know whether this processor is one of the newer thoughbred B's or the original 2400+ thouroughbred A...

set your front side bus up to 133Mhz and your CPU should be read as a 2400.

I believe your Front Side Bus is set to 100Mhz

Hi
Just had a look at the bios settings:

CPU External Frequency [100MHz]
CPU Frequency Multiple Settings Auto
X CPU Frequency Multiple 7.0x/15.0x
System performance [Optimal]
x CPU Interface Optimal
Memory Frequency [By SPD]
Resulting frequency 200MHz
x Memory timings Optimal

It would seem that the FSB is set at 200MHZ ?

yes, you want to set the FSB to at least 133MHz (266), higher if you wish.

FSB = "CPU External Frequency"
