Trouble with Logitech MX700
Help me out here, folks, please.
I have MX700 mouse. I've been using it for about 3 months now. It's been great mouse so far. A few weeks ago, it started to scroll up and down itself whenever I open a Internet explorer, MS word, or any window the scroll wheel is applicable and I never touched the wheel. It usually scrolls down to the bottom of the page eventually, again, without me touching the wheel. I tried all the latest Logitech driver, Windows default mouse driver, and even MS Wireless Intellimouse driver. I originally had it on latest MS Wireless Intellimouse driver and it's been working great untill this probelm surfaced few weeks ago. I also tried it on both PS/2 and USB but the problem remains. Has anyone experienced this problem? And also, could this be a problem associated with motherboard or PSU or any other component in my rig? I'm not sure if this is the cause but the ambient temperature of my room has been up and down in pretty great deal during this summer. Because of the heat (I think) My motherboard has been flaky for a while but even so the mouse ran just fine all along. Help me out, please. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Sounds like the mouse wheel could be a little loose and is stuck in the "scroll down" position. I'm not too sure how to fix this.... maybe taking apart the mouse and cleaning that part will fix things but I wouldn't recommend it. Try scrolling the wheel with a bit of pressure, like pressing down on the wheel while turning it while the mouse isn't plugged in. Maybe a bit of vigorous scrolling could help it? (Probably not but worth a try?)

This sounds like a problem with the wheel for sure... Probably going to need to send it back.

So you think it's the mouse hardware itself gone bad? Not other hardware components associated or driver related?
Thank you guys for input. |

It's either the scroll wheel or there is something shorting out with the two scroll buttons. To me it seems weird if it was defective why it wouldn't do it all the time? Have you spilled anything on it, or used it extensively recently? I wondering if the sweat from your hand didn't some how cause the short. Indeed very odd, since I've had mine since November, and have never had anything like this happen.

It happens all the time like I said. Whenever I open a window the scroll wheel is applicable. Not only that, from time to tome in some web pages, it goes back to previous page without me touching the 'back' button on the mouse. I think my hand were sweaty sometimes but not as much as the moisture would go into the mouse. I used it intensively in some CS playing but it was fine no matter how hard I used it.
Now, I am getting random weapons change in CS because of the wheel. In other words, I take out knife in front of rushing enemies. kinda funny. lol Anyway, I've got to contact Logitech. Right? Not the vendor I purchased from since it's been about 2 and half months. |

The MX700 is great period. Well, when it works. I never saw people complaining about this mouse. Although mine seems gone bad I have to admit that this mouse was fantastic. I intend to keep using this mouse if Logitech look into this matter resonably.
I had the same question as you earlier in another thread in another Driverheaven forum. Go to... my thread I don't know if you are into gaming but this is overall excellent mouse and its price have gone down a little I guess. BTW, I have another problem I forgot to mention in the first thread. The wheel does not work at all sometimes and no scroll up and down. There surely is something wrong with the wheel. Arrrrrggggg. |

Well they should replace the mouse for free...and you should only have to RMA it. It should still be under their warranty.

I bought it from YesMicro.com
I checked the web site and they offer 30 day satisfaction guarantee. I bought it over 2 months ago. Do you think I should still contact them and ask for replacement? That would be nice since I heard that is't kinda pain to deal with Logitech customer support. I actually e-mail them and I just got reply(yeah, they actually replied it, pretty good, huh?) from one of their rep. But the rep send me a URL for one of customer support document that does not really address the problems. Besides, I have read this document before and it's no use for me. The rep does not seem to read my explanation carefully. |

BTW, have you tried taking it apart and cleaning it? Also, how did you get the Intellimouse drivers to work? |

I contacted YesMicro.com but no luck. I don't blame them. It's been over 2 months.
I am a little afraid to take it apart. There's no screws on the bottom of it. I'll probably ahve to deal with Logitech next week. I had MS Wireless Intellmouse which I returned in about a couple of days. The thing eat up batteries too much and goes into sleep mode too often. After I buoght and connected the MX700 I did not bother installing the Mouseware driver since many people seems to dislike it. It worked on the previous Intellimouse driver just beautifully. I had no scroll issues in any program including games. I hope I can have the pleasure again soon. |

Does your 4th and 5th button work in games with the Intellimouse drivers?

Hmm... I never used 4th and 5th in gaming. I usually play CS and the scroll wheel worked fine with the Intellimouse driver although some MX700 users seemed to have trouble with it.

Mouse Scrolling is Erratic Under Internet Explorer 5.x or Above
Check for the presence of the Yahoo or Google Toolbar. If this add-on has been installed, try uninstalling it in the Add/Remove Programs Icon in the Windows Control Panel.

I have the MX 700 and it was happening to me about 2 weeks ago. I cant remember for the life of me how I fixed it. Mine did not happen in internet explorer it happened. It was only when I was playing BHD. It would scroll through my weapons.
A few things I know I changed are. 1. Buttons 4 and 7 (cruise up and down) if there enabled Set to 1 LINE and keep the speed @ medium. 2. There is a download on the logitec site for enhanced mouseware. Here 3. The only other thing I remember doing was cleaning the 3 buttons by the scroll. If you havent tried one of these maby one will work for you.

I called Logitech last thursday and the rep guy was absolutely nice. He is sending me a replacement. Even better, I don't have to send mine to Logitech or anything. I just have to wait for the new one. I am very pleased.
To all the kind people replied on my questions, Thanks. God bless you all. lol
