Barton is the core type. The 2400+ that you have is a TB core, which has a 256k L2 cache onboard. The Barton core is basically based off of the TB core but updated with a 512k L2 Cache. In which helps it run faster since it is less dependant on the memory.

I THINK... not completely sure, but doesn't the barton cores use .13u setups?

or did the TB use that as well?

Thoroughbred: the Thoroughbred "B" contains eight rather than seven layers, which had been the norm for the Thoroughbred "A". The Barton core also shares this newer layer difference. Also, there were differences in the speed of the FSB. The XP 1700+ to XP 2400+ ran at 133 MHz, while the XP 2600+ and XP 2800+ were capable of utilizing 166 MHz. As do all of the Barton core's. The L2 cache was doubled to 512 KB and its clock speed was reduced at the same time. Both are built on the same sized wafer, and have the same socket size. And most of the newer boards will handle both, though only the latest will handle the XP3200+ Barton with the 400 FSB.

I am tired so this may sound like crap
