Hi all,
I unsuccessfully tried to install DirectX 8.1b Redist Package and now have a mix of 8.1b and 1068_xpsp1 .dlls, when viewed with DxDiag ![]() Anyone know how I can uninstall DirectX and maybe go back to the version 1068_xpsp1 installed, or maybe install the DirectX 8.1b Redist Package properly? The DirectX 8.1b Redist Package, after extracting to: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\DX8.1b Redist\Redist\DirectX81, and then clicking on dxsetup.exe, I OK the licence agreement and then click on the install dialog and within only one second (like grease lightening) I'm told, by another dialog that "DirectX setup has completed successfully". Now I know there is no way this could be possible, in only one second! The hard drive certainly wasn't active. Any help would be gratefully accepted

Moved to the Technology Section because this doesn't specifically relate to Audio (though it can sometimes).

I got the same thing with dx 8.1b, installation was done in half a second. When I do dxdiag, I see that nothing new installed at all.

uh... guys... direct x 8.1 b is the same as 8.1a. It only has updated files for DEVELOPERS. DX9 is the next major upgrade for Direct X for USERS (and maybe developers too).
