I recently purchased a new pc with XP.reinstalled my scanner, but when I went to use it i got the error message"TWAIN.dll"could not be found&to copy it from the source disk to windows folder.
still got the same message. uninstalled&reinstalled it a few times, but still no joy.then a friend suggested mayb the drivers arent compatible with XP (as the installation booklet states the OS requirements as "Win 3.1x/Win 95"), so i was wondering if anybody could help? i cant find a website for the company who made the scanner, its a "ScanMagic 4800 P" EEP flatbed scanner,4+ yrs old. any help would be appreciated. Kay

That's a Mustek scanner, you maybe better of dumping the scanner and buying a new USB one. Trust me I did a similar thing a while back and the quality and ease of use is worth it.
Even the cheap scanner will be a lot better.

It's discontinued so driver development will have stopped. If WinXP hasn't or cannot use a default driver for this then honestly dump it. Anyways I down the hard work, eneter you serial and you should be in the driver page for this scanner http://www.mustek-europe.com/cgi-bin/verifyserial.cgi

http://www.mustek.com/Download/driv_...llery4800.html possibly try this one... some series drivers work together rather well... i've done it... it's worth a shot.... (you might be able to sell that one to someone who might be interested)

I really like how XP took care of my recently purchased UMAX Astra 4000U. It's a full legal size scanner that I picked up at MicroCenter off a clearance table. All that was missing was the USB cable. The scanner and the cable together cost me $45.
I also have a UMAX Astra 1200S that I've had for maybe 3 years or so. In order to use that one, I'd have to use the ISA SCSI card that came with it. ISA is just about totally obsolete now....and a PCI SCSI card would cost almost twice as much as I paid for my new 4000U. With XP, I didn't even have to install any drivers. |
