New System. Any suggestions?

Well, my wife wants a new computer, so she wants me to build her a new one. Sooooo, I figure I'd take the opportunity and give myself a nice little side upgrade (READ: hand her down my system. ) Anyways, I want any suggestions on changes I might want to consider.

Upgrade pieces are in BOLD. Existing pieces are in plain text.

Abit IS7 Intel 865PE Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 2.8CGHz 800FSB CPU

Vantec Aeroflow Heat Sink & Fan
Arctic Silver 3 Thermal Compound
Corsair 2x256MB Twin-Pack XMS, Low Latency DualDDR PC-3200LLPT
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (not interested in 256MB version, in case you are)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Sony DVD+/-RW DRU510A Internal EIDE
Hitachi 16x CD-ROM (8 years old! Still going strong!)
Sony 19" Trinitron E400 Monitor
Xaser III V2000A All-Aluminum Super Tower
Antec True480 Power Supply

Since when the NF7 supports P4's???
Guess you meant IS7

Only thing I'd change is the cooler, I'm thoroughly stunned by the Zalman CPNS700ACU
Quite pricey but absolutely worth any cent.

Then again I never tried the Aeroflow...

And for the memory, it is a very good choice if you don't intend to overclock much.
Try to get the rev 1.1 if you can.

Dump the CDROM unless you use it (the DVDRW will do the job for you) or leave it in the old system.
Get some more Memory. Leave what you got in the old system, and get 2x512Mb.

oh and where are you going to store all the data

I already have the RAM on me, I plan to give my wife cheap RAM since she doesn't need the performance.

Yes, i would dump the CD-Rom drive (the 16x).... it's most likely using a multi-word DMA at best.... most likely still PIO mode 4.. Anything connected to the cable WITH that drive...will slow everything down....

Okay, this is good advice here. So you're suggesting *IF* I keep this drive installed on my computer, put it on its seperate IDE cable?
