I've finally goy my new rig, system specs are as follows:
Case antec plus view with 5 fans barton 2800 (thermaltake volcano 11+ with ducting mod) a7n8x deluxe 2 kingston sticks 512 mb ddr 333 (full copper jacket) 2 seagate cheetah ultra320 scsi 73 gb + 1 seagate ultra ata133 40 gb PSU 550 wats with pfc filter audigy 2 radeon 9800 pro winxp pro sp1 dx9b catalyst 3.7 Nothing is overclocked yet. I run 3dmark 2003 and aquamark without problems but in 3dmark 2001 SE, when the nature test comes the artifacts appear. I can also play Chrome with all the eyecandy to the max without problems so i guess there's not a temps problem. My cpu is 43º and system 30º. Any ideas for the reason of the artifacts? Thanks in advance.

My first idea would be to chuck in another gfx card, is you old one still about?
The reason for doing this is you can narrow the cause down a little. If it still happens you know its not a card/catalyst issue....if it doesnt happen then you know its the gfx card or drivers... Stu |

It was the gfx, with the radeon 9700 pro all the artifacts dissapear. I'm returnig back the 9800, i think i'm gonna wait for the XT babe
. Now it's time for some overclocking, any suggestions for fsb and memory timings?

Well, without PC-3200 or PC-3500, all you can do is up the FSB slowly towards 200MHz and test it using SiSoft Sandra or Memtest-86.

I'm not sure about your FSB speed though because of the speed of your ram like Bane said. However, try bumping it up a little bit at a time, and make sure you do some stress testing to ensure it's going to be stable. What are you using to monitor your temps? Your case temp. isn't high but seems oddly higher than it should be especially for the case you have. I have a smaller case, and normally I never hit 30c unless the room temps. are quite high. |

Also, with Necrosis' timings, you might not be able to grab high overclocks. If you run into instabiilty, try relaxing the memory timings some.

Hey Bane does your board default to 1.7 for your core?

Hmm, there's something wrong with your BIOS code then, because I don't recall any Thoroughbred or Barton CPUs that run at 1.70V.
In fact, I did some digging and found a thread with all the default voltages for all the Tbred and Barton CPUs: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=174028

Hmph, as long as your CPU is stable (and your CPU should be okay at 1.70V anyways.) I take it you can't manually adjust your Vcore?

It could just be a 'reading' fault of the voltage, you could try lowering it but chances are you are actually at the correct voltage anyway (it's just reading the wrong voltage)
Try BIOS update, these will alter the fudge factors to make it look more reasonable ![]() Either way if it works, who cares.

I've updated the bios to the latest version, and yes I can adjust my voltage in the bios.

Hmph, I'd manually adjust my Vcore to 1.65V then...but since you're O/Cing anyways, I bet you need the extra voltage anyhow.
