Nah, wait for an Abit board. I have always found their boards much better than all others.

Hey! I like Giga-Byte! :-P
The real question is, do you think the chip is worth it?

Sharkims... Your curent system is nearly as good as the 64.... Don't bother... Personally I think that's a waste of money to upgrade..... AND ALSO, you didn't add registered ram..... Your ram that you have now won't work on the 64.

wildchild only uses gigabyte he tells me, if you plan to keep it for a long time go right ahead with gigabyte. really damn dependable boards. abit has a lotta power, but not as dependable as gigabytes or asus.

What is with all of the misinformation going around this site lately
The Athlon 64 3200+ will work just fine with registered or unregistered memory however the Athlon 64 FX51 will require registered memory But I also would say to wait until the CPU becomes a bit more of a standard first

Hmm, I'm going to build myself a P4-2.8CGHz system around the end of the year, I suppose I should wait for the reported prices of Intel P4's to come down when the AMD64 CPUs go mainstream.

The CPU's are going mainstream. However, it's the Prescott that will make the P4's go down in price.

I've never been more solid with abit..... Gigabyte, seeing 30 computer with then in it.... crash consitantly..... i was quickly persuaded not to even give them another change..... I found Giga-byte to have a very well know ability to NOT OVERCLOCK..... but at STANDARD settings, can be VERY good..... a speedy one?.... no....but rock solid..... if something is to go wrong...it goes wrong.....

I have nothing against newer GigaByte boards....... But the KT400 board I bought from GigaByte last year.... (GA-7VAX)..... what a piece of crap.. I mean, I know it's mostly the chipset I didn't like... ugh, I can't think of anything better than nForce right now...

using the KT400 Chipset now in my Abit AT7-MAX2...... excellent.... the board is amazing.... talk about being just a step down from a PROFESSIONAL motherboard made for some serious work......although, at $350 a peice...damn straight!

Giga-Byte does have overclockability. If you get one with a DPS or more so a DPS2. I can get up to 3.8ghz at 1.575 volts with the dual phase power system. :-)
Giga-byte boards lately are very stable. Rock solid to say the least. I haven't crashed once the entire time I've had this board. *Knocks on a huge peice of wood*
