Memory Problem

I may have asked this before but I am having a curious problem with my computer. When the system is first booted it seems to run fine. However, after some time it begins to slow down or stutter on most games. If I reboot and turn of my virus scan I am ok again for a while but eventually it slows down again. I have 512meg of DDR 400MHz ram. It seems that as time goes on, memory resources just give up.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your help,
Don

I'm going to guess you're running a Win9x based system. Upgrade to XP if so.

Ugg it's a very well known problem that Me has alot of memory leaks. Even after all the service packs and tweaks you'll never get'em all fixed. Worst Windows Os ever released.
I'd definately upgrade to 2000/Xp or even concider downgrading to 98se, or give Linux a try anythings better than WinMe.

You mean Upgrading to 98SE! lol I liked 98se- and all my games and benches were faster on it too. Just to many things optimized and built for XP only now though, so I had to make the switch a while ago. XP is great if you disable all the crap that doesn't need to be running in the background though- (services)
