Out of curiousity, or just plain boredom, I went to a few different sites
that test your internet connection speeds. Every single one said I had a connection speed that is faster than even a T-1 connect. It went onto explain that although T-1 connections are faster for upload speeds, and that T-1's are better for certain types of downloads/uploads, most Cable or DSL connections actually have faster and more... consistent speeds. My questions are: How accurate are these tests? How accurate is the information given to me above? In your experience, what website offers the best, most accurate and overall test? Screen below shows results from 3 of the sites I visited. *The result showing 3.8 MB per second was by a company/site in Texas...where I live.* Thanks in advance.

Those speed tests are pretty accurate... one thing to keep in mind while running them.. run them latter at night that way internet traffic is a little lower and will not effect your speed as much. Also make sure you have no apps on your network using any bandwidth otherwise your speeds will look slower.

I just ran a bandwidth test at www.pcpistop.com (500kb) and this is my result:
Transmission Speed 3763 Kb/s pretty damn fast for Adelphia Powerlink (Cable), and its 8:20PM (hot time for internet).

To answer this one you have to sue site's you actually visit, downloading form them sites is the only way. To get the 'max' try downloading from your ISP or ISP's Cache. That way there are no bottlenecks in the way. Traffic is part of the internet so you shouldn't test at time's you don't normally use it. Else your getting false results. 'SpeedTest' site will give you a rough idea BUT don't read to much into it. It is only an indication of how fast you get download/upload from thier site. If anyone lives in the UK a good tool is this http://www.vantage.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/v2/v2.htm If you don't it maybe worth a look as you can alter some of the settings.
