Windows XP + SATA RAID 0
Greetings, Im trying to get a Raid 0 Striped set to function on my Windows XP.
After installing the operating system I run into some intresting problems. For starters i cannot set my power button as a Shutdown Button. If i press the power button it shuts down the system immediatly cutting the power. THe power option in control panel does not allow me to fix this. 2 If i shutdown windows it shuts down, then tells me It is now safe to turn off your system However this ATX board should simply just turn off. now here is the most irritating thing. If i use a regular shutdown the system will not restart, it hangs right at the SATA Raid menu during the post. The only way i can reboot again is to reset the CMOS reset my settings and then it will find the striped set and load from it. Oddly enough though if i restart windows it reloads just fine. Someone please help =( |

Hi Beaon
Thats an interesting few problems there. I am not sure i can help you much on this as i have only recently switched to a Raid array 0. But thankfully without those problems. For me two things come to mind, one is in the BIOS, ie did you enable Raid and the second is, did you install your raid array drivers, at setup.? By that i mean when you start to install XP, at the beginning, XP will ask you to hit F6 to install your raid drivers, normally from floppy. Someone will come along with more knowledge on this subject than I. But i will glady follow this thread. Luck

its easy, go into you bios make sure advanced power managent is turned on an set up right, (i bet u it's off becouse thats wht happens when it's off) and in windows check you settings, control panel, power options, advanced make sure it says shut dwon in the drop box... also another thought you might double check to make sure your useing the right pins on your mobo for power on/off also double check make sure you've got the latest bios for your board... -neon (bows.... exits stage right)
