I had a link in my threat do a digital camera review site. http://www.dcresource.com
I suggest going there for an in-depth review as well as actual pictures taken by the camera so you can figure out on your own

fugifilm finpix A205. I love it and it was less than 150$. 2.1MP and 3X optical zoom with a 1.5inch lcd.

heres a few sample pics (only at 6x4, but the camera supports up to 12x10)

this one is with 3X zoom, no blurring or anything

I think its a great camera.

I know I'm getting a Sony DSC-P92 camera, 5.0MPix for about $310 at www.newegg.com. For the price point, it's a screaming deal.

I would say to go for the most MegaPixels you can. You also should consider how much memory is on the camera itself. I have seen several Sony cybershots and they do a great job. Also they take superb pictures in dark light. Just a few things to consider as well for you.

I would go with either a Nikon or Canon. MPs are definitely not everything in a digital camera
If you could squeeze out about $360 you could get a Nikon 4300, which I promise you will be the best camera you ever lay your hands on. It really takes the most amazing pics I have ever seen.
Good luck

Remember that with FUJI, their "SuperCCD" is scaled differently (octagonal pixels instead of the normal bayer matrix) so they generate around 50% more megapixels in the image than the sensor.

Some people accuse them of quoting an artificially interpolated resolution, but tht's relative anyway, as the square bayer matrix on the others also requires interpolation, since a non-FUJI "3 Megapixel" actually has 1.5M green, 750k each red and blue, and interpolates them to a full colour, full megapixel image.

Fuji FinePix S3000

I am not new to cameras, but this is my first digital camera that I have bought, which was just a few weeks ago.

Here locally I bought the camera for $297, but if I wanted to wait a week and order on line I could have picked it up for the low cost of $259.

Pros
I like the way it fits in the hand, due to the contoured shape. I also like the hidden/popup flash. The camera is easy to use in either auto mode, or manual mode. All of the control buttons are perfectly located under the thumb so you don't have to pull away from the camera to see what you are doing. The photos are sharp and high quality for the price. LCD monitor is 1.8 inches. Has nice zoom and pan mode.

Cons
In dark/evening shots it is hard to see what you are taking a picture of, but if on automatic the picture is still great, just maybe a difficult time frameing the shot perfectly. That's the only thing I find a problem with so far.

The camera is 3.2 mpixels, comes with a 16mb xd card which holds about 17 photos at 3.2 mpixel setting. I bought a 64mb card for $36 and it holds about 75 photos at the 3.2 mpixel setting.

Make sure that what ever you buy that you also buy the power adapter, recharger, and rechargeable batteries, otherwise you will be spending more on batteries than you do on your internet service a month, not to mention the frustration.

The camera's batteries are good for some thing like 350 frames, but when you start taking pictures, then viewing them, each screen action is considered a frame, not to mention the time spent with power on just looking at one specific photo.

For the price range you mentioned, you can't go wrong.
