D875PBZKL or D865PERLK
The first one, hasn´t onboard sound, the second one, brings it. Both very good , stable and reliable mobos. |

my asus motherboard has onboard and even if i disable it when i put in my creative zs it becomes unstable
emailed creative but they gave me the most useless answer i think..could've been me being lazy :o think it said format or summut *EDIT* i know, they went on summut about ACPI or something, and to stop my OS using virtual IRQs, dunno what it means or anything but was like effort :| http://www.crs.nildram.co.uk/creative.txt - their reply if your interested. maybe you can decipher :P

Basically , two things:
PAT: a very little memory performance increase (5%) with Canterwood. ECC memory capability with Canterwood. Sata RAID depends from ICH5, if it has ICH5R, you got it. This is generally implemented in both boards (be sure if you buy Springdale, to have ICH5R). |

I think its most likely the fact that creative has gone down the crapper for hardware quality. The sound quality on them is decent but I found that with the Realtek audio codec on my board that at 16bit sound it actually tests out as a cleaner signal than even an audigy2 I was fairly amazed but Ive never had RMAA be wrong about the quality before so Im trusting it on this one

the best board is the ABIT IC7 Max 3, best for overclocking also. I'm using the MSI 865 Neo-2 and its awesome also, looks great. If you wanna save money get the springdale chipset (865) if u wanna spend a little more get the Canterwood (875). Canterwood you really only benefit if your using good ram with ECC in dual channel because theres no ECC on 865 motherboards. both have PAT, onboard sound can be easily disabled in the BIOS. I say for reliability go for ASUS or Gigabyte, for speed and overclockibility go for ABIT. for features loooks and above avg performance go for MSI, Epox, Chaintech. Intel motherboards (made by intel) just suck! ugly also

Gigabyte?
Well I've heard good things about the Gigabyte range of P4 mobos. Not sure about model numbers because I'm just about to go to bed, but a friend has one and it's impressive. Never had a problem with it. Only thing I don't like is the chipset fan sounds like my mum's hoover >.<

Oficially, PAT is not avalaible in 865 chipset. Some manufacturers, enabled it, but INTEL didn´t like the idea, so they had to change this name for another.
