For me, it has to be a little bit of shit hot, super fast, gamers drool over type of RAM. I don't need more that 512Mb at the moment, so the faster the better for me.

Speed is everthing for me!

since more than 512 megs is unneccessary unless you render 3D and stuff like that, then i think it is obvious! QUANTITY!!! lol, jk, quality

512-1024 of PC3500 CAS 2 is good enough for now........maybe come next March or April it will be a different story.

Yeah, 512mb is good enough for me (for now) 1strip Org. Samsung cl2
I'm still on a kt266a but seeing the newer faster boards it isn't much of a difference
Aida32: reading= 2015mb/s writing=640mb/s
Next upgr. in may? :amd64/pci express

Totally depends on what you do. Servers, video editing rigs, 3d rendering rigs, big development rigs, all probably would benefit more from more ram than fast ram. But for a personal computer thats mainly for gaming, I'd have to say faster is better.

for me i'd would say fast ram to a total of no more than 1024mb of cas 2 osz or equivalent.

although i only have 768 of cas 2 pc3200 in mine and it handles all games very well.

Waste of money to buy the FX chip...Not going to see much difference if any over the regular 3200 64, and unless your ram is ecc reg it is not going to work with the FX. Running 1 GB Hyper X DDR 500 here.HeHeHe....Lotsa memory and fast to best of both .

I agree with the first part of the Poll. The Good stuff @ CAS2 but I will not use less then 1024 in my systems. After doing testing on my systems and watching the amount of RAM used during games I will never use less then 1024. Plus any system that is running a NT base OS will run much smoother with more memory.

Tyan is MUCH better than Abit. They cost like twice as much though, but they do have alot of great features, and good overclocking support.

I don't find a need quite right yet for the typical user to have more than 512mb of ram. So I chose the first option.

if u can get 1GB of fast memory. why not go for the best of both worlds.if u play games and rendering like i do u want alot of fast RAM.i would rather pay alittle more for quality and performace than paying less for crappy quality slow RAM.
