Well, I figure most of you know a lot about these since most of you have them in your sig. I currently have a celeron processor that works almost exactly like a piece of shit! I'm going to upgrade to an Athlon XP either 2000 or 2100. Which one should I get and should I stick with stock cooling? Also how long do you think the 2100 will last before it is considered "outdated"? Thanks for the help.

Hey, I want to know this as well, as I might give my 1800+ to my parents and get myself a new one 2.
I'm thinking 2000+, because it's easy to unlock and decent price, but I wonder if the 2200+ is worth it as well.

if you got the money get the fastest, the 2200 has a .13 archt. and it will run cooler.
ive got my 2100 to 1.95ghz though (serious cooling), depends on your bank balance as always. |

How much is the 2200? I cant find any place that sells it besides the internet, and I'm not a big fan of buying on the net.

I've ordered plenty of items from http://www.newegg.com and never had a problem. They've always given me excellent and timely service as well as good prices. They've usually shipped the same day I ordered (as long as it was in stock obviously) and they use FedEx super saver which is pretty quick.

the 2000 is easier to unlock than the 2100. And before getting the 2200, make sure your mobo supports it. Going through this now with kx7-333. Evidently to add this support I would have to RMA my brand new $100 board so they could mod it...

Mike, I don't know what processor you have now, so I can't really say whether or not you should stick with what'cha got, but this fox, as a general rule, does not recommend the 2200+, as it is difficult to cool. If this is a long-term upgrade, I'd shy away from the 2200+ and either stick with a 2100+ (actually, being as cheap as I am, would probably go with, say, a 1900+) or hold out for an Athlon with a larger core (Barton).

Well I currently have an Intel Celeron 1.0ghz and was looking for a long lasting upgrade so I thought this would do the trick.

if you don't mind unlocking and overclocking, get the 1600+ from Newegg.. good stepping codes are being shipped, you can hit 1.7-1.8mhz with it.. thats in the 2100+ - 2200+ area..
AMD Athlon XP processor 2200+ operates at a frequency of 1.8GHz. AMD Athlon XP processor 2100+ operates at a frequency of 1.73GHz. AMD Athlon XP processor 2000+ operates at a frequency of 1.67GHz. AMD Athlon XP processor 1900+ operates at a frequency of 1.6GHz. AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ operates at a frequency of 1.53GHz. AMD Athlon XP processor 1700+ operates at a frequency of 1.47GHz. I have mine just oc'd by FSB only, haven't unlocked yet and its running 1.627mhz..
