Default Post Videocard - need advice what to buy!

I have today a Abit Siluro GeForce 2 mx\400 video card.

I am thinking of upgrading it.

Basicly I dont play games on my computer. I us it for stuff like this, Photoshop and chat.

What I would like to get is a ok card that is easy to use to configure and that I can connect easy to my TV. (got alot of Divx-Movies that I wanna watch on my tv using a wireless transmitter)

As you`ll understand, I dont need the NEWEST, Ruffest card on the market, but a card that will fit my needs.

At least Geforce 4 or something simular.

Can anybody advice me?

For strictly photo work, I'd definitely opt for a Matrox card, such as a G500. The quality on these cards is unsurpassed. If you do want to fire up the occasional game, I would reccomend a Radeon.

ATI Radeon 8500 or 9700 will fit your bill
Matrox Parhelia has better Image Quality for photoshop, but it's a bit more expensive and has no TV out - but it has two DVI out sockets

matrox g400 or radeon 7000 aiw/vivo would do. nvidia cards excel in gaming, and pretty much nothing else. matrox cards excel in 2d graphics and are not too shabby with tv out. ati cards (like the radeon) excel in video in, video out (vivo), and are great in 2d and applications.

at least gf4? you mean gf4 mx? why would you need something that powerful if you don't play games? i'm a heavy gamer and my vanilla gf3 is holding up very well to today's games.

there is no real great all-around card, but the closest to what you stated would be an ati radeon vivo or all-in-wonder.

A retail 8500 would work nicely for you. My brother uses photoshop quite a bit for work and really likes the dual monitor support. It makes life easier for him.

The video quality is excellent and if you did decide to play a game you'd have the muscle for that as well.

Prices are getting VERY affordable right now also.

I agree an ATi (that is the mfg) Radeon 8500 would do quite nicely for your intended purposes > for a long time.
