Power Supply Choices

Hi all. I have a question. I believe that I need a new power supply. I'll list all my specifications and then it would be helpful if anyone could reply with a suggested wattage / brand / reputable place to buy it. Thank you in advance .

1 DVD-ROM
1 CD-RW
1 Floppy
1 Harddrive
4 cold cathode lights
9 fans (8 80 and 1 120) [two fans are/would be PSU fans]
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (I would like to be able to overclock this)
1 BBAti Radeon 9800 Pro
1024 megs of pc-3200 ram
1 harddrive cooler
1 Soundblaster Platinum Live!

I am currently using an Antec 400 watt PSU. I used the PSU calculator found here, and it recommends a minimum of about 500 watts, but that's without counting my cathodes, etc. Thanks in advance again.

Get a PC power and cooling. (www.pcpowerandcooling.com)

I have never seen a PSU with more stable rails or better amps.

lol Neon, I'm counting every fan in my system. the case only has slots enough for three fans. I cut a blow hole in the top for a 120 mm, then I cut a window out of the side and put two fans in the window. So there are 6 system cooling fans, and then 1 heatsink fan and 2 PSU fans.

Big Ol' Supplies

Here's a couple of big ol' power supplies that ought to do you well.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...=BROWSE&depa=1

While you're looking at these, take some time to think about whether on not you'll want to change down the road to serial ATA drives (some supplies include extra cables) and about your plan to upgrade to the processor and mainboard to run an A64. There seem to be some additional power requirements for compliance with the mainboards and possible differing connectors - I'd encourage you to read up and do some homework on those things if you plan to use the new supply in an upgraded system later...

About your fans...
They run on the +12v line, but altogether shoudn't draw more than 1.5 amps under full load, and they don't suck heavily on the 12v line at startup like hard drives do, so the fans are not a major concern (in my estimation) in selecting the supply.

If I had a bunch of fans like that, I might be singing in harmony to their running tone, just like I harmonize to a Mac's startup tone - but I digress...

Hope these suggestions help...
