I was one of the unlucky ones that got suckered into buying a FIC AT31 mobo. I decided to buy a Radeon 9200 card instead of using on board grafix (which is just horrible...how do I disable it completely?) Anyway I installed the new card and I can't get AGP Texture Acceleration to work according to DirectX (shaded grey, not available) I really don't want to do another clean install, I was hoping someone out there who knows about a Phoenix 6.00 CMOS knows how to set it up so I can get this fixed.
One more thing...I emailed FIC for support about this, here's their response: >This card has not been approved for this board. Thus we are unsure of >it's stability. That's it?! What do they pay these ppl for!?! This sounds like a total b.s. response to me...is it? I'm hoping to get a friendlier response here. FIC AT31 Mobo AMD Athlon XP 1900 Phoenix Award 6.00 CMOS 512 MB PC2700 RAM DirectX 9.0b Omega Catalyst 4.2 video driver Ikea Cup Holder Thanks in advance |

...you should be able to see an option in the bios to disable onboard video.. and set the video boot to AGP... check for bios updates..

Thanks guys...As it turned out this BIOS is completely outdated, no options for the AGP slot. Horrible tech support from FIC, horrible mobo. I'll just have to get a new mobo, one that is NOT FIC.

And there really should be an option somewhere to Disable the Onboard Video... or Integrated Video....something of that nature. In many cases where I've installed a separate video card to a system like this, I've had to also Disable the onboard Display Adapter from within the Windows Device Manager. Otherwise, if you try to Remove it, it keeps trying to reinstall it. That 'might' be your tactic here. Disable it in the Device Manager and then let Windows try to detect your installed card. Good luck! |
