opinions please ??
whats the best 19 inch monitor you have seen for image quality, regardless of price. the person buying is mainly interested in photoshop work and rendering. |

Just got a great one from Best Buy. The Mag Inovision -MAG 19" High-Contrast FST CRT Monitor — 986FS 19" screen (18" viewable); up to 1600 x 1200 resolution; 0.25mm dot pitch; 1-button display adjustments; e-DVD function for display performance
Don't know if this is what you are looking for but it is a very nice monitor. But is was $199.00 with $50 Rebate, total cost $149.00 Hope this helps. htuttle... |

0.25 mm is way too high - aim for .21mm as a maximum

Don't bother with anything less than a Sony FD Trinitron based display. I'm sorry, but Shadow Mask and Invar Shadow Mask just SUCK.
Basically any NEC or Sony Trinitron display is the best you can buy, period. Best definition, color, geometry, resolution capabilities of any monitor on the market, save for silicon graphics displays. |

You can go for a 19" Viewsonic 955DF, 0.20mm dot pitch, Available at Best Buy for $299

IMO, you can't beat Viewsonic. I've got three of them and wouldn't use anything else. They last forever, too.
If your friend decides a budget is in order, CTX makes a decent low-cost monitor. I've got a CTX 17" that's over 10 years old now and it's still kicking right along. I wouldn't touch a Mag with anything but a ball bat - they suck, die way too fast, and far too many DOA's for my taste. |
