win2k3 and games

Now all my games run in win2k3, install without any probs, but everything is a lot slower. I.m running the eval version right now and love the stability of the platform, however I need the few gamesI own to run well. WinXP runs everything quite a bit faster. All the drivers etc are installed just fine (Seeing as the latest Cat4.2's have the 2k3 errors fixed) but I've lost a chuck of my performance. For example 3dMark2k1 has dropped from 169xx to 145xx. Any ideas how I can make this ground up?

Cheers guys!!

You want to improve speed and performance? Then go back to Windows XP. The server software is just for that, as a server. It is not meant for games in the least and actually has a lot of extra stuff running because it is a server and is supposed to be as stable as possible. I seriously would not be using server 2003 as a gaming OS.

Ok, lets put this to rest ONCE and for all

In one corner we have WinXP Sp1, Clean Install + Drivers + DX 9 + Cat 3.8's

In the other corner we have Window Server 2003 Ent Edition, No Patches, Clean Install + Drivers + DX9 + Cat 3.8's

The only changes made to the server were those required to install Cat's and enable 3d support

Test is 3dMark2k1SE, total defaults
(since we were concerned about 3d performance its 3dMark)

A Picture is worth 1000 Words right

The system is of a friend of mine. ( One which I would like to have, )

Xp is first up

next up Server 2003

Need I say more?

P.S. Before anyone notices the wall paper, the winxp install had a mod made to the install (unattended install) to set that as the default wallpaper, shouldnt affect 3d stuff.
