New Ultimate Monitor
My 900IFT is a rare one... one in millions... trust me.. he you ever tried to find one these?
little bit on it: 19" Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT maxium resolution at manufactures "highest" recommended Frequency: 1920x1440 @ 60hz (although i've pushed it to 73hz with no problems and it's been a good 2 years almost) 1600x1200 @ 75hz (85 workz fine) Dot pitch is 0.20mm (amazingly sharp and clear... every other monitor i look at is crap in comparison) it has all sorta of nifty helpers and enhancers that i can pick at any time and easily make good use of .... be it zoom or highly or enhance You can usually tell how good a quality monitor you have by the Brightness/Contrast settings after adjusting them to the correct places using a program to guide you (or within reason user preference) Although i think mine is a little to low for being max quality... brightness is at 0 %.... my contrast is 75% (brightness should probably be 15% at the lowest to give good adjustment however... i like mine a we bit darker for some reason.. maybe with my being out side 0 hours a week ![]() simply to say... this monitor cost me a pretty penny at the time.. they had 10 in stock in canada that i could find (of course i try to find the lowest price).... i actually could only get it shipped from vancover as they were the only ones except for toronto that had any..... a good 2 weeks and i had it.... $650 canadian down after tax (asked if paying cash if i could get a discount BEFORE they ordered it and they refused) Anyways... enough with that.... i can barely get the monitor and the box it's in into any new car.. kinda bites... so i'm wondering... THE GOOD PART: ![]() Samsung has finally got available were i live.... (although they have to ship from vancover again and it's yet again.. rare) the: Samsung SyncMaster 1100DF 21" high res Monitor... (me wonders on how many freaking pounds it weighs! ) some specs: 21" Maxium RES at Recommended Refresh rate: 2048x1536 @ 75hz (like the other... i most likely will be able to "oc" it) Recommended Res at Maxium Refresh rate: 1600x1200 @ 95hz (wow) Recommended RES at recommended refresh rate: 1280x1024 @ 85 (max refresh is 110hz) DOT PITCH: 0.20mm (YES DAMN once again they made another sharp monitor) other stuff as usual on my other monitor.. but a little more and updated... Price: after tax it'd be $1016 (throws up).... looks like i might have to wait ages.. by then... they'll have another good out maybe... erg... how i wish...

BTW Only thing i notice that it has over the samsung is that 2048 res supports 85hz (and an inch extra).... however... (personally) it's not worth sacrificing 0.04mm dot pitch for it.... and most likely.. the price if i could get it... would be either an addition 1/2 more or double.... 2048 would look like 1800 res in comparison.... you'd be surprised how much a 0.02mm dot pitch difference can make... it's rather austounding... for such a small distance... and also.. you haven't seen FSAA at work till you've seen it on a very small dot pitche monitor... ( was looking at the other Samsung 9xx series monitors ... but all of them except for the 900IFT are 0.24 and even though they ran 1600x1200 @ 85 hz.. i wanted the 0.20 dot pitch 1600x1200 75hz monitor) |

i'm guessing LCD.... samsung does make some nice ones.. but i still find the LCD's not nearly at as good a quality as the CRT's... lol.. i remember a few years back when these people on tv were saying how the CRT's would be phased out due to LCDs becoming cheaper and as good as quality.. space saving.. blah blah blah..... yet.... alot... and i mean A TON of people that work heavily with graphics and other things... say they must have a CRT as the lcds just can't reproduce... |

Samsung makes great monitors - the one you've speced is awesome.
I used to be a factory authorized tech for Samsung tvs and vcrs (called 'em samsuck at the time, their tv's were reliable, but the picture was awful) - they were just breaking into the US market back in the late 80's. Then they started making computer monitors and within 2-3 years were making some of the highest rated (esp. for the price) monitors in the world - that was in the mid 90's. Now they still (arguably) make some of the finest quality monitors in the world and have over 50% of the worldwide market for computer monitors! Today, I agree, there is still no substitute for a great CRT when it comes to absolute video quality (text and native resolution wise though now belongs to the LCD).
