freeware mp3 tag remove utility

removes ID3 V1.x tags from mp3s

removes ID3 V2.x tags from mp3s

removes lyrics tags from mp3s

is easy to use

is compatible with the Mp3 File Editor (like plug-in for Mp3FE)

working under Winows 95/98/Me/NT/2000

A tool like this removes the id tags a lot of file sharers use that contain identifying information that could and is commonly used by the Riaa to prove that it is downloaded music! (As they have used in publicized cases before). This won't necessary save you but it will make it very hard to prove that it isn't just a back up of music you already own/bought.

handy util, but to get away with it, you would have to produce the original CDs, in court, to prove that the MP3s are a backup and not a pirate copy. And if you cant produce them then the RIAAs lawyers will eat you up. I also doubt that the RIAA only use the tag info to prove that you downloaded the track - ie, youre screwed if you get caught.

my music that i rip myself has those tags completely filled... right down to the smallest detail..... One of the major reasons i ripped all my cd's to mp3 at top quality (320kbps)..... also.... it's a must for DJing with.... when someone request kareokee... those lyrics come in handy....
