any of you guys use a portable MP3 player?
I recently treated myself to a Compaq IPAQ player with 128 meg of storage on 2 64 meg smartcard media and im very impressed with it... well apart from the headphones they supplied, but ive got a great pair of £35 Sony inear phones with great bass response so now it sounds really good. I was looking at the larger hard drive models but they kind of defeat the purpose of portabillity for me .... Its the portability of this Compaq player that appeals to me, its fits comfortably in the palm of my hand or a shirt pocket with little to no weight at all and runs on 2 x AAA batteries - lasting around 15 hours per pair. a really good little MP3 player with some pretty good software for downloading via USB with built in variable bit rate changer to optimise the file sizes, and it can handle the variable bit rate that I like as well. you can comfortably fit 2 full CDs on it for listening during the day. it also handles windows media audio as well (does anyone use them?) Anyone else own one or a different model of Mp3 player and would like to share their experiences? |

I don't have one, but there are only two different kinds I'd even consider looking at. One would be the portable CD players that also play MP3 files burned on CD-Rs (they never caught on like I thought they would), or the other would be an Apple iPod. I probably won't get either for a very long time, though.. portable music isn't much of a priority right now.

Here is what I've owned.
1. Iomega Hipzip. <-- Pure crapola. Glitchy, battery dies after a few months. 2. Sony NetMD <--- Gave it away as a birthday present. Great little player. All around best deal in my book. Here is what I have now. 1. Emerson MP3/CD Cheapo for work, and it does work decently. 2. Creative Nomad. I don't like to move this one around too much. Reason I may never own an Ipod. Too expensive!!BTW, I like the players that use Compact Flash too. |
