Default Post Details on new -- EPSON Stylus Photo 925 and 825

Epson America Inc. has added two new direct photo printers to its product line -- the EPSON Stylus(R) Photo 925 and EPSON Stylus Photo 825. The EPSON Stylus Photo 925 offers unique and exclusive features such as its automated roll paper cutter, one-touch printing buttons, the ability to crop images without a computer and digital image archiving to a Zip disk. It is perfect for the digital photography enthusiast or even the less computer-savvy person who wants to buy a digital camera. The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 is the replacement to the popular EPSON Stylus Photo 785EPX and provides a simple and easy-to-use photo printing solution for new digital camera owners.

"It is truly amazing to see how far digital photography has come and how easy it is to print photos at home that look like they came from a photo lab," said Fabia Ochoa, product manager, photo imaging, Epson. "With the EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 printers, digital photographers of all levels can simply pop in their digital memory cards and print out amazing looking photos without ever having to use a computer."

The EPSON Stylus Photo 925 has many outstanding and exclusive features that make this printer ideal for more experienced digital photographers and those searching for a completely PC-free solution. Built into the printer is an automatic roll paper cutting device that makes it simple to print over 50 borderless 4" x 6" snapshots quickly from a roll. The cutter automatically trims the photos as they are being printed -- saving time and paper. The EPSON Stylus Photo 925's control panel supports over 20 photo templates and a large number of supported paper types, along with the cropping feature that enables users to crop images without using a computer. The printer's control panel also incorporates two "one-touch" printing buttons that allow users to save their favorite print settings. Customers can easily print Photo Stickers with the EPSON Stylus Photo 925 in addition to Glossy Photo Greeting Cards and Iron-on Transfer Sheets, all without ever turning on a computer.

The printer offers the ability to print with or without a computer with built-in card slots, which support CompactFlash Type I and II, IBM Microdrive, SmartMedia and Sony Memory Stick. The printer supports Secure Digital and MultiMedia Cards with an optional Zio! card reader. The EPSON Stylus Photo 925 can also store or back-up digital files right to a storage device such as an Iomega Zip drive or other USB device like the Sony Micro Vault(R). The printer also offers connectivity with Direct-Connect-Compatible(TM) (DCC(TM)) digital cameras enabling users to print directly from a variety of digital cameras via their USB cable.

The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 is similar to the EPSON Stylus Photo 925, but is simplified for the novice digital camera user. The printer includes a built-in PCMCIA card reader and PC-card adapters that make it compatible with virtually any digital camera memory card. Supported camera memory cards include: CompactFlash(TM) Type I, Secure Digital, SmartMedia(TM) and Sony Memory Stick(R). It will also support CompactFlash Type II and IBM Microdrive(TM) with an optional PCMCIA adapter.

With the EPSON Stylus Photo 825's large and easy-to-use control panel, customers can make selections such as paper type, paper size and number of copies without having to use a computer. The panel gives users the ability to print Photo Stickers and offers the flexibility to choose from five paper types and 15 different photo layouts, plus manual adjustments, filters and frames. Unique to the EPSON Stylus Photo 825 is its ability to print color photos as well as black and white and sepia toned prints simply by choosing the appropriate filter. The printer also supports roll paper printing, making it easy to turn your printer into a virtual digital mini-lab.

These printers were developed for digital camera owners and feature Epson's superior six-color Photo Ink system for creating images with incredible detail, beautiful skin tones, sharper contrast and an ultra-wide color range designed ideally for photography. This unique system also includes photo-optimized black ink for richer blacks than that of traditional photos and up to 20 percent greater black density than that of other photo printer brands. Both printers also offer up to 5760 x 720 dpi with Resolution Performance Management(TM) (RPM(TM)) technology and four-picoliter droplets, delivering the best in visibly continuous tone quality for prints that appear indistinguishable from traditional photos.
For viewing photos and layouts without using a computer, an optional 1.6" color Preview Monitor is available for the EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 for an estimated street price of $79. This monitor attaches to the printer, enabling customers to review and select images before printing without a computer. It includes a screen saver function, brightness adjustment knob and a tilt mechanism. The monitor also provides an easy way for EPSON Stylus Photo 925 customers to view their cropping selection.
Both the EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 incorporate Epson's patented BorderFree photo printing technology. Customers can easily print borderless photos in a variety of frame-ready, popular photographic sizes such as 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", and letter size without unsightly perforations. Both models also come with Epson's unique roll paper holder accessory for printing multiple borderless 4" x 6" snapshots and panoramas on 4" rolls conveniently. Larger images can be produced on the printers with a maximum printable area of 8.3" x 44".

Furthermore, the EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 printers produce long-lasting photos which can resist fading up to 25 years(a) with Epson's optimized combination of photo inks and fade-resistant papers, like EPSON ColorLife(TM) Photo Paper. The printers also use Epson's fast and convenient quick-drying inks for prints that are immediately dry to the touch and water-resistant on EPSON Premium Photo Papers. The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 both support PRINT Image Matching (P.I.M.) II technology to create the best possible prints automatically, without complicated color corrections. Currently there are over 45 P.I.M.-enabled products from 17 manufacturers of digital cameras, photo printers and software. The new and improved Exif 2.2 (Exif Print) digital camera standard is also supported. More information on P.I.M. as well as a complete and current list of P.I.M.-compatible products is available at http://www.printimagematching.com.

The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 come with EPSON Software(TM) Film Factory(TM); ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3.0; and a P.I.M. Plug-In for Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) 7.0 and 6.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and 1.0. These software titles are all Macintosh and Windows, P.I.M. and Exif Print compatible.
The EPSON Stylus Photo 825 and 925 will be available by September for estimated street prices of $199 and $299, respectively, and can be purchased through Epson authorized dealers, mail order, computer superstores, photo specialty stores and on the Epson retail Web site (www.epsonstore.com). The printers carry a one-year warranty and are supported by the EPSON Connection(SM), a customer support and technical assistance line.
