I bought one of those yesterday, didn't know that you can flash it like you can with your mainboard.

make sure you read the whole thread at that site
and as always, people should take every precaution when flashing their firmware

Yes very intresting, but I'am not going to download the firmware. It's enough confusing as it is with the DVD-R DVD+R RW and so on.

I had some problems burning DVD-movies (my own movies).

But it's good to know that I can upgrade the drive in the future.

Sweet, definitely good to know. It seems people can burn dual layer disks with a few DVDRs with hacked firmware. It will definitely be worth the risk of flashing in the near future

Just be aware that it might perhaps not be possible to go back to an official firmware after flashing something else. At least LiteON's flashing software has denied such actions before.
