ipod vs. dell DJ

Okay, I am wondering on if you prefer the Dell DJ 15gb mp3 or if you prefer the Ipod 15gb. Ipod is $299 and dell is $199.

also have a look at the iRiver hdd players, much more superior than the overmarketed iPod (you are paying for advertising with the ipod)

Well my friend has a Dell Digital Jukebox and he recommends it highly over iPod for many reasons...

I have played with the DJ and I have to admit it's pretty good... although it gets pretty hot sometimes

Hmmmm.....well im kinda leaning towards that iRiver now, lol. just happens to be more expensive....damn...lol

cons that have been said about the iriver (other people)
-does not support "putting image files on"
-no "on the fly" playlist (not quite sure what this is)
-no AAC support.

I dont know if these are really that important. Basically, it seems that people have been saying that the Ipod is sexier and "cooler".....but I dont care about that. I want functionality over sexiness.

sorry to hear its more expensive… case is opposite in AU, its AU$100 cheaper than the iPod… but with the support the iRiver players get (quarterly firmware upgrades, dedicated supprot forum) and all the features (4 line LCD on the remote, full size LCD on the unit, built in radio, optical in and out) i think its the best option… just hardly anyone knows about it

well, I Decided on the iRiver iHP-120. I am happy with my choice...comes with great accessories standard...compared it to ipod...and if you were to have same capacity and things that came with it...ipod bundle would cost around $200 more

Hmmm. I think ill still have to go with the iPod, as the iRiver doesnt support AAC, so I wouldnt be able to put the stuff i've purchased from iTunes on it...or...can I?

if you're going JUST for file support… probably a bad idea - there are other online services… napster etc that let you purchase songs. You may also be able to transcode AAC to ogg/mp3/wma

Logla has a spectacular aura aboutLogla has a spectacular aura aboutLogla has a spectacular aura about

if your wanting to dump a collection of mp3s onto the player then go for something other than the iPod.

If however, you are wanting to dump your CD collection onto the player then definately go for the iPod. AAC files rock! they sound far better than mpee3s and help the battery life of the iPod no end. You easily get an hours extra battery from using AAC files.

Also, the AAC codec is much superior to MP3. Less space used and better sounding

Well I personally love this iRiver. It not supporting AAC doesnt bother me that much...MP3 does good enough for me, sounds great, plenty of space, and I dont think it is worth it to pay $200 more for that. Not to mention the battery lasts 16 hours.

I am very happy with this iRiver and recommend it to all.
