A Non-Techie Needs Help
I recently purchased an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB. I'm running an Athlon 2500 at 2.06Ghz, 1 GB of PC3200 400mhz memory on an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe MB and Omega drivers. The Smartgard feature shows my AGP setting as "off" and when I try to set it to 8x, it reboots the system and I suppose concludes that the setting would make my system unstable. I ran AquaMark3 at only 22k+ score and think that maybe I've got a setting problem with the card. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

OK..done. Smartgart still shows my AGP as "off". Is Smartgart dictating to my system or just making some kind of recommendation? If it is dictating, how do I disable it so it doesn't set my AGP to off?

Did you install the NFORCE drivers for your motherboard. Without the AGP drivers you will not have AGP support from the OS.

Yeah, sounds like you haven't installed the chipset drivers. Also leave fastwrites on if you don't have stability probs, it makes quite a difference

Indeed MB drivers but don't install the IDE driver...horrible. You also should reinstall DirectX 9 too.

To make a long story short you can reinstall it using this.

Thanks gang. The Nvidia drivers did the trick. I will also take the good advice and activate fastwrite. I'm glad you guys helped out as I was beginning to wonder if I had wasted money on the card. I guess Circuit City gets to keep my cash now.
