Refresh rates on 19" monitor
Using a 19" CRT with the following refresh rate options, which would you use and why?
1: 1600x1200 @ 70Hz 2: 1600x1200 @ 60Hz 3: 1280x1024 @ 85Hz 4: 1024x768 @ 100Hz |

1280x960@85Hz or maybe 1152x864 if the monitor could handle more than 85Hz there. I can't stand less than 85Hz even for games and the next monitor I buy I will make sure it does 100Hz at 1280 whatever the cost. 1280x1024 skews the picture slightly on a CRT, since the aspect ratio is not 4:3.

1152x864 is a rather rare... but pretty decent resolution... it ALWAYS seems to come in handy.... as there seems to be alot of cases were the refresh rate fits.... or the 1024x768 preforms REALLY good ...and 1280x960/1280x1024 preforms a little slow...... i can push 100hz at that resolution

1280x1024 @ 85hz
That appears to be the highest res for a respectable refresh in your list. I will sometimes go 1600x1200@ 75hz on my monitor. I can tolerate 75hz. But 85hz or higher is preferred, so that would bring me back down to 1280x1024. |

I always use 75Hz - perfectly flicker free for me, and I've seen too many cards/monitors that CLAIM 85Hz at a particular resolution, but the frequency response isn't up to it, so they are VERY soft.

Pfft. I use 1152x864 @ 100hz...but when I'm REALLY showing off, 1600x1200 @ 70hz (or 1744xsomething @ 60hz).

Personally, i have never had a problem using 60hz...idk why. I do keep mine on 85hz for both gaming and windows though, just to be on the safe side

1280x1024@85Hz for me too.
Can run 1600x1200@85 as well but it tends to blur a little when that high. |

Don't mess around with any lower resolution at a refresh rate higher than 85hz, you are just waisting desktop space and resolution. It also depends on if you are playing a game or just in the OS, and the game you are playing - and if your PC/Video card can handle the extra res.

You could buy an NEC, Cornerstone, or Princeton Trinitron 22 incher with the same refreshes, better clarity in text and images, higher contrast, truer black, and arpeture grill...for the same price. |

BTW... the 900IFT i have is a Dyna Flat monitor.. with a AG..... best damn monitor i've ever seen.... anything else i look at looks like crap.. So the 1100DF as far as i can see.. is also a AG and of the same quality as my 900IFT.... an obvious upgrade considering the 2048x1536@85hz

1280x1024 @ 85hz
I use it for gaming purposes.. Since I use VSYNC.. It's the highest resolution I'll play a game in..
I actually use it at 90 Hz..

Is there a reason why mine won't go past 75 hz? Actually, on the spec sheet it says 1280x1024 @ 80Hz but Windows will only allow me to switch it to 75?
