Gardinen is on a distinguished road

Bought the ND-2510A

I've now placed an order on two NEC ND-2510A Dual Layer burners. One for my dad and one for myself. I really hope there're good.

Good choice. It's pretty much the same as the 2500A which has proven itself to be a great drive.

Logla, you can ge the OEM drive at newegg for under $90

This is something I haven't been able to find yet. Dual Layer disks seem very rare.

The weird things is that burners have that tecnologie but there isnt really media to suport it. I find this reall odd. Doesnt make any sense having a 8x DL burner if theres no 8x media or hardly any DL media 2. And of course the media available is very little and really expensive.

Well, these drives have been out for some time now under different names For example the NEC 2510A is a 2500A and the LiteOn 812S is a 832S. Same exact hardware on both but different firmware. I think they were just waiting for the media to get closer to release before renaming them

I've found one brand of Dual Layer DVD media from Verbatim from www.komplett.se (a swedish site)
But those discs are extreeEeeEeemely exepensive. 5 discs for 895 SEK, that's 116.95 (calculated 23:rd juli 2004)

Dont really know to be honest as I haven't used them myself but I have heard the usual horror stories of late deliveries, missing orders, credit cards being billed twice etc.

But I cant substanciate any of that because like i say I haven't used them.

there is a good bit of 8x dvd-r media...it's just the dl that hasnt found its way to mass production yet. this is soon to be changed though. that is why i am getting this burner, because there will be DL media. same reason im probably gonna get a 6800gt, because there will be dx9.0c support..just becaues it's not here yet doesnt mean anything. some people say you can burn 4x dvd-rs at 8x with no complications...it's like an ability of the burner.
