I'm currently using a P4 3.06 533fsb with a ASUS P4T533 board that comes with RAID support already
but what i heard is that the performance on it isn't too good... so i'm lookin into buying a RAID card for a 2 drive array for workstation and gaming The hard drives i'll be using will be 2 brand new in box 80gig Western Digital 8mb drives. i'm thinkin for each drive to get its own channel. I've read some reviews on alot of cards... one thing i dont really quite get is why some need an xtra dimm slot for sdram. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. |

the extra DIMM slot would be for memory and caching purposes… quite usefull really, can reduce the cost of the setup if you have an old adram chip lying around

Raid cards with memory slots cost a bundle but they are sweet. I liked the Adaptec 1200A when I had it. It was pretty fast and caused me no headaches. You can find it for around $50..
