Definitely the MSI or the Epox if you can get a better price on it. Go NF3 no matter what tho

hmmm.... since I asked I've been looking into reviews... the msi seems to be better... according to viperlair at least... the msi has the nf3 250gb chipset whereas the abit has the via chipset

... still think abit?

Yeah, you can't go wrong with the MSI -go to amdmb.com and read all the good threads. But the NF3-250 is excellent, I got the crap Chaintech board and I'm running at 1200HT speeds(up from 800) Congrats on the new hardware tho, you'll love your A64 for sure.

yeah... I only wanted a cheap upgrade - I have the money - but I really can't warrant spending £600 on JUST a cpu+ mobo - even though it would be cool to get a sck 939 fx53 - it's certainly not a necessity

I'm totally SATA now, four drives in total so I need the extra onboard controller so I'm stuck with my K8V deluxe for the present. I'm also waiting for VIA to come up with a working PCA/AGP lock, until then the NF3 seems the best bet-especially the 250GB version.

well... the asus, the abit and the msi all have 4 sata I think (not sure about the abit tbh) - I have 2 sata drives - both wd raptors 36gb - so I only *need* 2 sata ports - but I would like to have 4

If you like to overclock, get an nForce3 250 board. If not, just get one with the best brand/price/features, since at stock speeds, most perform pretty much the same, except nF3-150. For nForce3 250, I think the MSI is the current favourite. Oh, and read many reviews, since some of them disagree with others

@/2ct!< is on a distinguished road

if you check @ MSI forums, you will see a lot more reported problems with the MSI than the Epox. MSI also is being sued for using sub-standard parts such as mosfets, etc. The Epox + has 2 native SATA with the nf3, (as all nf3 chipsets) as well as an additional 4 i believe. The Epox is far uglier though...
