BIOS Problem
Well, nothing really works right when I have the computer on now (after an incident) unless I reset the CMOS. I do that, and everything works again. Of course, resetting the CMOS resets the BIOS settings as well, but after that when I change one or more options in the BIOS and then restart the computer, it goes back to nothing working (just the fans and powersupply and lights and whatnot are working). Then I saw something on the post-screen about a BIOS checksum error? What should I do?

This is really pissing me off... I gotta reset the CMOS everytime I restart the computer... might as well take the comp to CompUSA or Best Buy or something.

See section 2.1.2.1 of your ASUS A7N8X manual. I think the page is right.
If not look for the section on "Updating the BIOS via Built-in AwardBIOS Flash Utility". 1.) Download the latest BIOS file from the ASUS website. Write down the BIOS file name on a pice of paper. You need to type the exact BIOS file name at the Award BIOS Flash Utility. 2.) Reboot the computer. 3.) To use the AwardBIOS Flash Utility, press <Alt> + <F2> during POST to display the FLASH utility. 4.) Insert the disk that contains the new BIOS file into the floppy drive. 5.) Type the name of the new BIOS file, for example: "AW0702.BIN" then press <Enter>. The program will ask if you want to save the previous BIOS. Select <Y> since it is advisable to back-up the original BIOS in case you need to reprogram it. 6.) The program asks to save the previous BIOS to a seperate file. Type a file name for the old bios and then press <Y>. The AWDFLASH program backs-up the file. 7.) AWDFLASH proceeds to check the new BIOS file and asks the user to program the (flash) the new BIOS file to the motherboard. 8.) Type <Y> and Press <Enter> to flash the new BIOS file. NOTE: Do not shut off the system power or unplug the supply during the flash process. 9.) The BIOS flashes and displays the results. Press <F1> to restart. Hope that helps. Greg

Well it may be another part of the computer, and not the BIOS... but I think it's the problem so I want to get it fixed. So I'll try what grog said and see if I still have problems...

OK well flashing the BIOS was a bad idea because it wouldn't even flash. It was on the screen for hours, so I restarted the computer, and now it won't even turn on no matter what I do. So now I have to take it someplace to get it fixed, so don't except me on these forums for at least a couple weeks or so...
I'm on my brother's computer right now but he only let me use it this once...

Ok well I had to get a new mobo... basically the same thing, but it's an Asus A7N8X-E... due to bad flash, but I'm gonna be getting it back within the week
