What's the problem?
My secondary PC is acting askew. Firstly; you should know it's a Dell 8200, P4 1.8, RD-RAM, etc. Anyway, it's not booting to Windows; it freezes while detecting drives, etc. Not only that, the internal PC speaker keeps making this weird beeping noise (hardwar error, I assume). The first thing I figured was the problem is the PSU, it's a 230w POS, so I removed all PCI cards and disconnected the DVD-ROM and the beeping noise stopped, however, the PC still won't boot. So, I reconnected the DVD-ROM and the noise came back. I disconnected it again and put the PCI cards back in; no beeping noise, but the PC still won't boot. Then, for the heck of it, I plugged the DVD-ROM back in, once again, with all PCI cards connected and the noise returned. There was a thunderstorm last night, but nothing blew out( to my knowledge), but I think this may have caused it. So, I'm thinking it's a power issue... What thinks all ye?

why not try your other power supply on it, to see if it works?

I tried my other PSU and I still get the same problem. I also tried differnt RAM to no avail. Motherboard has to be the problem.

Even with a Thunderstorm.. nothing has to blow out or get hit for something to happen.. there's enough static in the air and energy to do harm. Best solution is to start swapping parts from that system and trying them in another but BEFORE doing that.. check all the traces and capasitors quickly to see if there is any brown or black splotches.... I would highly recommend spending just a few bucks on a good UPS system... APC make some very very impressive stuff for damn cheap... 5 minutes of backup time and plenty of warranty (cash back even)... but it this machine is a server... the BX1000's are very very convient... Currently i've now 2 of them.... my server along with my cable modem and router and printer along with various other things are on this unit.. i can browse the net now even without power!

i forgot to mention earlier, you can tell what the problem with motherboards is by the beep pattern when you try to boot up. just google for a list.
