I have a problem with this file. No matter what size I specify, or if I let the system choose the size, the file is always 1.5 gb. I specifically told it to be made 1024 mb. This is inconvenient and really buggers up my system because my C:\ drive is 5 gb and once the pagefile starts up its only got about 400 mb free! I tried putting it on another drive, setting it to smaller sizes, turning it off, deleting it, NOTHING works. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Wich operating system are we talking about? Try this; set the system to run without a pagefile, reboot, check for and delete the pagefile if it still remains, then set the size you want and reboot.

turn it off 1st then reset/recreate a new pagefile.., go to the Virtual Memory settings, in the Custom size setting... highlight each drive then type "0" (zero) on both Intial and Maximum sizes and then click "set". then check "No paging file" and click Set one more time... close/exit the settings and Reboot your PC. after reboot, check and see if the "Pagefile.sys" is still on any drives, if so, delete all of it. and then recreate it to the size/location you prefer. |

hello,i was also a victom of this same type of problem, this may or may not apply to yours but i could not vigure out why i could not allocate size changes to my pagefile for about a week.then i started uninstalling one app at a time, when i uninstalled NORTON anti-virus 2004 pro all was good.this seemed wierd to me cause i could not find any faq anywhere about this particual bug.but i reinstalled NORTON again and the same thing happened.then i reinstalled all apps i had uninstalled earlier and my system worked perfect.it might be a conflict with norton and another app on my system but all is good now.hope this helps, and if it dont good luck finding the answer and if you do please post your find. later

good luck with that, this is my opinion, uninstall and save yourself the headache, your system will run so much smoother without this app.there are way better anti-virus apps that dont intrude on or slow down your system a 1/3 of what norton does. later
