Coldheat Soldering Iron...cordless!
Anyone have tried out using this soldering iron before? From what I have read about it, it seems to work when you place the wire/solder between a little slit at the tip (I am assuming it is bridging something to generate heat...) I am interested in this...only 20 bucks, cordless and apparently suppose to be fast heat and cool down, but want to know if anyone has used this before... The 2 main problems I have with this soldering iron is that the temp. does not seem to be adjustable like my soldering station, which is good people some PCBs and connectors don't like extremely high heat. Also I've read somewhere that it is not recommend to work on complex/sensitive circuit boards because an initial high current is used to heat up the tip...I occasionally do some soldering for general repairs and electrical projects...(PS2, microcontrollers, joysticks, replacing faulty parts, etc...) so don't know if it will be a good idea to use something like the coldheat on them. |

I've been thinking about getting one of these as well. It should work better than the Weller Butane deal that I have now I'd be more interested in it for car stereo installation.
