is it safe to mod power supplies?
i was wondering if it's safe to drill holes into my antec 350 watt power supply. it's brand new and the screw holes dont line up so i want to drill new ones. is there any precautions i should take? i just dont want to get electricuted.

uh.... i would highly recommend you don't do this yourself if you've never done it before let alone taken one appart..... i would recommend making a layout of the holes you need to drill... and then taking it to a place that could do it for you.... you SERIOUSLY don't want to attempt drilling... they'll really fry you even without being powered

where could i get it drilled? the only places i know of are maybe home depot, microcenter, and compusa. i dont know if microcenter and compusa actually drill stuff for you though. but thankfully i DID NOT drill into the power supply. i just wanted to mount it directly to my case, but i just found a tiny metal clip for it to rest on, so it won't go anywhere unless i violently shake the system.

If you are going to drill holes...you would need to take the metal caseing off the PSU....just be really careful when doing so...as long as you dont take the screwdrivers and poke and prod at the capacitors and other components in there you should be fine....take the metal housing and mark where you need to need drill....then drill it out and shave the rough edges off...make sure you get all the metal shavings off....

alot of people that work around PSU's or TV coils for the ones sake..... they usually stand on one leg.. and which ever leg they choose... they use the arm... stand on the right leg.. use the right hand... that way it doesn't cross your heart.... but even then.. you can still be killled.....
