Thumbs Up! New LCD Monitor

Well after a few months of thinking about getting a LCD monitor I finally broke down and got one. My buddy has owned the NEC LCD1765 and I have been very very impressed by the quality of picture that it has. Sooo I went to CompUSA tonight and got one for myself. I must say this thing is very impressive. NEC LCD1765 @CompUSA

Using this one you would swear you were using a CRT monitor. No ghosting and the colors are very very sharp. To be honest this one has a better picture then the one I have at work and the one at work costs almost $300 more. NEC did an awesome job with this one.

Sweet, glad you like it bud. LCDs are the way to go IMO. I'm still paying off-and will be for a while- my Dell 2001FP but it was totally worth it. Your eyes will definitely thank you over time.

NEC are Gods.

I have an old MultiSync M500 and it screams with crispness still I want an LCD next as well. But until then, I'm sticking with my 19" CRT

question: with an LCD, don't you have to play all your games at the same resolution, or else a different resolution looks all weird?

Not really, it depends on the LCD really. If however you LCD doesn't like to downscale from say 1280 to 1024 then you are screwed on ATi hardware. nVidia drivers allow not scale the image which will result in black borders but the IQ will remain excellent. This is the best way for best IQ and I never really understood why ATi has taken such a definsive stand against allowing us to do this...its very weird to me.

I run all my games at 1280 x 1024 so it works out for me

True, but when even new games come out with a max res of 1024 and your LCD native rez is 1600 it makes things kinda difficult to swallow

I've been eyeing the new Samsung lcd monitors... I can't quite justify paying that much more than a comparable crt.

I'll probably be getting a 22 inch NEC crt monitor for my main computer soon.

@/2ct!< is on a distinguished road

at my recommendation from a friend, etc. my dad got a samsung 191t plus. It works out pretty good for games, but since my comp isnt built yet my hardware is incapable of running Halo at native resolution, however gaming is fine at 800x600. There may be slight proportion issues, but I cannot tell. The more annoying thing is ghosting, which hopefully reduces at native resolution, will have to wait and see.
