Vantec UV Spectrum fan card causes shutdown???

It worked fine for the first couple months, the all the sudden tonight I turned down and turned the fan speed back up. My computer shut down, and now refuses to turn on when the fan cards connected??? Anyone have any ideas why this might happen?

I was thinking maybe something to do with the power supply but like I said, it's worked fine for awhile now all the sudden....

It's a 250W factory power supply.......

Any ideas?

Odd. Maybe the fan is broken? I have the same one on a 240 watt power supply and it works just fine. Your power supply could possibly be overloaded too.

AMD Athlon 2400 @ 2.0
768 DDR Ram
ATI 9600XT (I o/c the shit out of it)
SB Audigy LS
2 UV lights running on it
Vantec Spectrum Fan Card
250W no-name PSU

If I missed anything let me know. I'm also considering getting a 6800 non-ultra....if I disconnect the UV lights and fan card is that even enough juice...or am I asking for trouble?

P.S. If I am stuck getting a new psu, what do I need to look for in terms of system compatibility? I know nothing about power supplies.

It's a compaq actually, I talked to a compaq guy and heres what he told me

"Shereen: First we need to find which other chasis is compatible with the motherboard, to be precise with the new power supply you want to install.

me: ok

Shereen: Using this chasis, the new supply needs to be connected making sure the perfect power supply goes to the board.

me: ok"

The manual for my mobo says it's compatible with any ATX power supply so is that sufficient enough info to go off? How many watts would I need?
