CD image to DVD

Lets say I have 3 CD image files that normally you burn those on 3 CD;s, is it possible to just make one big DVD image of the files and make it work properly??

It's kinda of boring to insert cd after cd.

Do you want to burn it to a DVD disk afterwards? Or just combine all the files into one?

there are some programs that will open .iso files like a zip file, you can then burn the extracted files to DVD

here is my advice on taking 3 cds to a single dvd

First off you need to look at the aspect ratios of the video.

What is the resolution? Bitrate? FPS? etc.

Then you will have to have a few programs to reencode the video to dvd.

Ahead Nero suite
TMPGenc dvd author
TMPGenc AC3 audio plugin for 5.1
DVD Shrink

Hardware (maybe needed in some instances)
ATi All-in-Wonder or mpeg 2 capture card (needs to be good to due dvd resolution)
Dolby Digital input for audio (Opticial if wanting DD 5.1)
Compatible stand alone dvd player

You could possibly combine all the cd then reencode it to a dvd disc with nero.

If the resoultion can not be changed you will have to recapture back to disc with the audio and video input on the capture card and capture back to your region coding.

Then use TMPGenc to encode the video

Then use dvd shrink to shrink the video to your dvd specs

Then burn the disc

have fun.

later

Yes I know, the iso,cue or other img files are game files actually and I want those to a DVD instead but I'm afraid that when installing the game that the installer won't know where to begin.

I managed to do it for all of the Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale). Only a few .ini file edits were required, to specify the drives properly, but other games might be different.

Or you can emulate a CD-Rom drive to make it seem like the disk is in the drive when it's not

Yes that's true, but I want a copy on the disc.
Purely for backup.

Dan,

I'm assuming what you want to do is somethign like what they did with farcry, and consolidate multiple discs into 1 dvd???

There's several thigns you could try:

-=[ Option 1 ]=-
Copy all the folders and file structure as is to a Folder on the DVD, so on the DVD you have like, 4 folders, and in each one is all the crap that was on the CD...this requires some manual editing to get file references right (D:/ becomes D:/Folder/)

-=[ Option 2 ]=-
Burn the CDs to image files and dump the image files on the DVD then just use Daemon Tools to read the image fiels off the DVD whenever you want to use them

-=[ Option 3]=-
This I have not tried, but would be interested to see if it can be done if you have some free tiem and a spare disc or 2:
What if you installed the game onto a DVD?? Like..run the install and choose D:/ instead of C:/Program Files as the root directory...then you coudl simpyl use DVDs as removeable microdrives

Hope that helps....and if you try option 3 please post results as I will eb extremely interested to see hwo that works (i'm outta blank DVDs or I woudl try it before i suggested it)

get ISObuster, extract all of the files in each image. burn each one on the dvd under their seperate folders (i.e. disk 1, disk2, disk 3). the setup program should automatically detect the location of the cab files and you wont have to switch. if it doesnt auto detect it, then when it says "browse" just select the folder.

I tried the program you mentioned it it worked perfect, the only thing was that you have to go via explorer and find the setup program, I burned the DVD as multisession. I didn't even had to change (cd;s)

Thanks.
