RAID ARRAYS... Block SIZE...

recently, i've been very very VERY impressed with HD TACH 3.0, it actually takes accurate readings....

Anyways... since i've gotten ahold of it... i've been playing aroundwith a bit... testing this and that... trying it on different machines...

Anyways... i've put the block size to the test a bit on my current setup.. and well.... moving from 4kb to 32kb..... it was just plain slow/average... meh.... 64kb was pretty good... .128kb was just as good... actually scored less of CPU usage and higher for average read.....

now i've done 256kb and 512kb.... currently with 512kb... it's dead center as being the same speed as 128kb/256kb..... pretty well... however, i must stress that loading games that are fathomly huge... is seriously getting chopped down every jump i make.... within reason.... i've not experenced any slow downs with coping some files over of various sizes..... windows loads a smidge slower.....

I'm tempted to give 1mb and 2mb a try.........

Damn, what card/mobo are you using that allows those numbers??? I have found anything over 64k to slow things down when working with small files. 64kb is the optimal setup my mobo chooses even on its own and the max I can even go is 128.

Yep, highpoint is great with PATA drives but they seem to have lost their touch with SATA. Out of all sata raid setups I've used inluding highpoint, promise, via, and nvidia, I think the via solution is by far the best overall.
